Established in 1996, Dialogue School Counselling is a BACP accredited school counselling service covering Sussex and Surrey. Dialogue has built an excellent reputation with schools, professionals and commissioners and the service has developed and expanded over the years, now operating across Brighton & Hove, East and West Sussex, and Surrey. Schools are deeply committed to meeting the individual needs of students as they prepare them to meet the challenges of growing up and moving toward adulthood.

The Role

They are recruiting for a part-time (7 hours per week) School Counsellor on a term-time fixed-term contract until 31 August 2023, with the likelihood of extension.

  • They are looking for a qualified counsellor or therapist with experience of working with primary age children, to join our team and deliver a therapeutic service to the pupils of Hangleton Primary School, Hove.
  • You will be joining an enthusiastic, experienced team and will work closely with the school key contact/s to continue the provision of a high quality, ethical counselling service to pupils.
  • This will include undertaking assessments with pupils, agreeing a regular session schedule with the school and completing all associated administration in a timely manner.
  • You will be required to attend regular clinical supervision and line management meetings.

The expected working day would be either a Tuesday or Thursday, there may be the possibility of flexibility with the day.

 

Who You Are

They are recruiting a School Counsellor who has a keen interest in counselling primary school aged children and is familiar with using creative therapeutic approaches such as art, play and sand tray.

  • You will have a professional, flexible attitude with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage your time well.
  • You will be registered or accredited with BACP or an equivalent professional body such as HCPC, UKCP.
  • You will also have a counselling or psychotherapy qualification with a recognised training provider and two years’ post qualifying experience in individual counselling or therapy with primary school age children.
  • Your experience in this area will include working with risk issues.
  • You will also be confident in identifying and responding to safeguarding concerns and have experience of working in a school setting.
  • You will work closely with the school key contact to continue the provision of a high quality, ethical counselling service to the pupils of Hangleton Primary School.
  • This will include undertaking assessments with parents, agreeing a regular session schedule with the school and completing all associated admin in a timely manner.
  • You will be required to attend regular clinical supervision and line management meetings.
