Working hours: 22.5 hours per week
Salary: £23,000 p.a pro rata pay review pending
Contract: Permanent
Location: Crawley – Haywards Heath.

 

Citizens Advice in West Sussex (North, South, East) is recruiting a people person, with an understanding of diverse communities and a passion to reduce inequalities through community engagement and development. In this role, you will lead in maintaining community relationships including community champions, gather and share insights, set up virtual and in person events to bring communities together including language cafe’s, connect communities to information resources and access training to become information navigators.

 

About you

  • You will have excellent communication skills
  • Able to quickly build rapport with people from a range of backgrounds.
  • You will be confident and able to work independently in new locations.
  • You must have an understanding of the needs of diverse communities and ideally have experience of working or supporting local communities in Crawley or Mid Sussex.
  • Able to demonstrate extensive understanding of the barriers they face, inequalities and ways to engage with communities.
  • The ideal candidate will have had experience of undertaking different research methods, event organisation, writing professional reports and working with external organisations. However comprehensive training will be available for the right candidate.

About the job

A varied role undertaking a range of engagement and communication activity in Mid Sussex and Crawley which may include:

  • Organising and hosting regular language cafes and regular community family events
  • Speak with individuals, groups and attend activities to gain insights and build networks
  • Manage their community champion networks by maintaining contact, sharing information, gaining feedback on resources and understanding what is important to them.
  • Develop and undertake research including surveys, focus groups and interviews to prepare reports on experiences of groups they work with.
  • Train community members in information navigation and community participation action research.
  • Support the wider team with communications via social media, videos, information leaflets and updating the website.
