Pages Between Us

Building understanding. Bridging generations. Changing how we see dementia.
An intergenerational Project by Alzheimer’s Society- South East

Pages Between Us is a new pilot project that celebrates connection through memory, creativity and shared humanity. Through these connections, the project aims to shift perceptions and foster understanding of dementia.

The project brings together young people aged 16 and over and older adults living with dementia for eight inspiring weekly sessions, where stories, laughter and imagination come alive. Each meeting unfolds like a chapter, two lives side by side, discovering the moments, dreams and experiences that shape who we are.

Why It Matters

This project is more than awareness, it’s about experience, empathy and belonging.

  • Young people gain a real, human understanding of dementia and ageing.
  • Older adults are celebrated as storytellers, teachers and friends.
  • Together, generations build confidence, compassion and community.

Every story shared becomes a bridge between two worlds, reminding us how much we can learn from each other.

What You’ll Do

Across eight sessions, you’ll:

  • Explore creative themes like Life Maps, Recipe for a Memory and Letter to a Stranger.
  • Build a meaningful one-to-one connection with someone from another generation.
  • Celebrate the journey at a final reflection event showcasing shared stories and creations.
