Winter Fuel/Hardship support

Local residents facing fuel hardship this winter can now receive extra help in the form of financial support or items/services, such as blankets or boiler repairs.

Support is being offered by Citizen’s Advice in West Sussex (North, South, East), together with with Arun and Chichester Citizens Advice and the County Council, through the DWP Winter Hardship Fund. This is in addition to the existing emergency fuel support Citizen’s Advice offer.

The Winter Hardship Fund aims to: ‘give vulnerable households peace of mind over the Winter months during the pandemic by helping those who need it to have food on the table and other essentials, so every child will be warm and well-fed this winter.’

The help available can range from paying gas, electric and water bills, to boiler repairs, purchasing blankets, slow cookers, or heaters. Other help may also be available such as mobile phone top ups, energy advice, benefit checks referrals, or specialist debt advice.
