Exploring the disparity of Covid-19 with the Crawley BAME Community

Citizens Advice Bureau in West Sussex (CAB) have published a report from the recent work they undertook involving surveys, interviews and focus groups with local Black Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) population.

The report’s findings and recommendations are being reviewed by the Sussex Health and Care Partnership (SHCP) BAME Disparity Programme and will contribute towards their list of short- and long-term actions.

Together with the findings from similar work carried out in Hastings and in Brighton and Hove, the following clear themes emerged:

  • Communications and Involvement
  • Staff recruitment, retention and progression
  • Unequal access and outcomes from service provision
  • Structural Inequalities
